Youth and Beyonce friend Kelly Rowland proceeded to form the supergroup Destiny’s Child’s crux. The women got their break when they entered Star Search after singing in events. In its first week, the record sold over 541,000 copies from the U.S., instantly coming in at number one, which makes it her greatest first-week earnings as a solo performer. Presently, the record was certified triple Platinum in the U.S. for imports of more than three thousand copies. The record has had global success promoting 5.3 million copies globally.
On December 6, the nominations for the 2007 Grammy awards were announced, and Beyonce received five, where she won”Best Contemporary R&B Album”.
